Licence terms
What you may do
| Licence | Who may use it | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Anyone, for personal and educational use | In a web browser or the Windows app |
| Maker | One person, for personal, non-commercial use | Up to three computers of their own |
| Pro | One person, including for paid work | Up to three computers of their own |
| Classroom | One school’s staff and students | Up to 30 school computers, plus students’ home computers |
| Whole school | One school’s staff and students | Every computer at that school, plus students’ home computers |
Each licence is non-exclusive and non-transferable. You may make backup copies of the software.
What you may not do
- Share, sell or rent your licence key, or the paid features, to anyone outside your licence.
- Get around the licence check, or remove or change the copyright or licence notices in the software.
- Reverse engineer the software, except where the law allows it despite this term.
Licence keys
A key is activated on each computer you use it on. The app checks the key with our reseller, Polar, when you activate it and about once a week afterwards when you are online. If it cannot check for 30 days, it returns to the free features until it can check again; your work is not affected. You can deactivate a computer in the app to move the key to another one.
Updates
Maker and Pro include 12 months of updates from the day you buy. After that, the last version you received keeps working for as long as you like. Pro owners may renew updates for US$49 a year. Classroom and whole-school licences include updates while the licence is current.
Simulation results
WindCanvas computes airflow approximately. Its accuracy depends on the grid resolution and settings, as the app’s fidelity grade and our accuracy page explain. Do not rely on its results alone for safety-critical decisions, certification or regulatory compliance.
Your consumer rights
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and if you live elsewhere you keep the consumer rights your own law gives you. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Our refund policy explains how to ask for a refund.
Where the law allows us to limit our liability, and for business customers, our liability for any problem with the software is limited to supplying the software again, fixing it, or refunding what you paid. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits or data, to the extent the law allows.
Purchases
Polar Software Inc. sells WindCanvas licences as our reseller and merchant of record. Polar’s terms apply to the payment itself; these terms apply to the software.
Open-source components
WindCanvas includes open-source software under its own licences, listed in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES file that comes with the app.
Ending the licence
If you break these terms and do not fix the problem within 14 days of our email, your licence ends and you must stop using the paid features. If you get a refund, the licence ends and the key is deactivated.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, Australia. Questions: support@windcanvas.com.
